I’ve spent most of my career looking at complicated problems and thinking, there has to be a simpler way.

For more than 20 years, I worked in healthcare, eventually leading a hospital laboratory. In that world, a broken process wasn’t just inefficient. It could mean harm to a patient.

I learned to standardize processes, find where things were breaking down, and use principles to make them safer, simpler, and more efficient. Problem-solving became second nature.

But somewhere along the way, simplicity became personal, too.

I was raising two kids, working full time, and helping run our family construction business. There was always something that needed my attention, and trying to keep up with all of it was burning me out.

So I started applying the same systems thinking to my own life and business. I had to find simpler ways to make everything work together because I couldn’t keep doing it all myself.

That only made me more passionate about systems and about looking at the whole picture. Because nothing in a business happens in isolation. When the pieces don’t work together, someone has to fill the gaps.

When I stepped into the online business world, I saw the same thing everywhere. Talented coaches were building successful businesses, but behind the scenes, they were still holding everything together themselves.

Their businesses had grown. Their systems hadn’t.
